ipad pro freezes

I am just getting started with piascores and have tried it about four times. Twice I have had the ipad pro freeze. I have had to hold the sleep button to cause a reset/reboot to get the ipad to work again. When it happens I have been playing near the end of a file and I tap the upper left corner. The left vertical side bar partially appears, the bar showing the icons for pdf files. The remainder of the right side shows the last pdf page displayed, but greyed out. It remains frozen until the sleep button is held down, and then it takes a long time (at least a few minutes?) until it does the reboot.
